Durban is bidding to host the World Congress of the International Union of Architects in 2014. If successful, it will be the first time that the event is hosted in sub-Saharan Africa and only the second time in the southern hemisphere.
Multiplicity
The South African Institute of Architect's bid theme for the UIA 2014 Congress is entitled "MultipliCITY": World Future. The diverse and multilayered nature of Durban will guide the Congress as a living laboratory of multiplicity in action and co-existence.
